The High Tech Club will be hosting the 4th Annual Technology Symposium this year on April 13-14. The experience will kick off with a keynote address by Jay Walker, Vice-Chairman and Founder of Priceline.com, on Thursday April 13 at 4:30 in Kennedy Hall. His visit is in conjunction with the Park Distinguished Speaker Series. On Friday, April 14, a day-long event will continue to highlight technology’s role in business and is structured around an E-Business theme: “Maximizing ROInformation“ with a dynamic mix of speakers and panel discussions.
First, for those that need to know, “What will be the main takeaways?” Cornell Business asked Sarah Milius, the club’s VP for Symposium Planning. “We aim to explore the role of information for E-Business and how is it affected by the Internet and technology (devices, telecom, software). Information spans sales, customer tracking and preferences, supply chain, price comparison and auctions, advertising, transmission speed, access devices, storage & retrieval and beyond.”
And, for those who prefer the personnel side of school affairs, attending the event will be Dean Robert Swieringa, several faculty serving as Panel Moderators, Speakers and Panelists from participating companies, Johnson School students, and students at other graduate and engineering schools at Cornell. And don’t miss the chance to mingle at the catered lunch and closing reception.
Speakers are confirmed from Intel and co-sponsor companies Nortel, EMC, Dell, and Lucent. Dell’s just-launched Dell Hosting Group will be represented by Tim Mattox, its VP and GM. Bob Dutkowsky, President of Data General (an EMC subsidiary) will speak, as well as Jay Carter who is President of Lucent’s AT&T Customer Business Unit. Anand Chandrasekher, GM of Intel’s Workstation Products Division is also a confirmed speaker.
While a 4th panel is in the works, on “Venture Capital Incubators - The New Wave
in Technology Development“, there are three panels with details firm enough to go on record:
