Over the past year, the members of the Student-Faculty Committee have worked to transform our organization to better serve our constituents, namely the student body of the Johnson School. We've evolved our relationship with Dean Swieringa and the school's administration to create a strategic partnership that approaches issues with a long-term perspective.

To provide some context, Thursday morning meetings have changed to allow students more time and a greater forum to discuss these school initiatives with the administration. Examples we are working on include the school's branding and positioning project, several community and cultural initiatives that you will soon be experiencing, and developing ideas to improve alumni involvement.

Other issues, such as facilities and career services concerns are now handled almost exclusively in the various SFC sub-committees and action groups. This is the result of the hard work of the SFC members that lead those organizations and demonstrates their leadership ability.

You can become involved by attending Thursday morning meetings or visiting with SFC members during brown bag luncheons (Monday through Friday from 11:30 to 12:30 in the atrium). If you are interested in a specific issue, you can attend any sub-committee or action group meeting or contact the leader of that organization. The best way to learn more about our upcoming itineraries is to ask any SFC member or to visit our link on the Intranet homepage. If you have an issue that you believe merits strategic discussion with the administration, please share it with us!

Also, the upcoming year will be critical for both the evolution of the SFC as well as for the Johnson School. Leaders of the Class of 2002 will have a tremendous opportunity to work with the administration on several important initiatives that will impact our school for years to come. Look forward to more details after fall break. This year's elections will be held in early November and voting will be offered online for the first time.
