In the spirit of New Year's self reflection, the CMC would like to share with you the feedback we received from recruiters last semester.

The 79 employers who visited the campus last fall represented a 58% increase in the number of employers who came in the fall of 2003. Still, we recognize that this is significantly fewer than the 121 companies who interviewed on campus in the Fall of 2000.

We ask every visiting recruiter to give us feedback on the students they have interviewed as well as the services they have encountered from the CMC. These recruiters who evaluated the CMC services and the students' preparation and knowledge also recruit at competitor schools; 20% of them recruit at Columbia, 26% at Wharton, and 17% at Kellogg.

The recruiters are asked to rate services and students on a scale of 1 (poor) to 6 (excellent).

The CMC was rated a 5.55 for support and resourcefulness compared to other schools. Recruiter complaints centered on parking issues and the need for more breaks between interviews. (Recruiters are offered valet parking, but often there is a lack of communication between the firms' recruiting coordinators and the actual recruiters).

Based on a comparison to other MBAs at competing schools, students were evaluated on the following criteria (1-6 scale):
Overall quality of resumes: 5.53
Overall quality of cover letters: 4.44
Demonstration of critical skills for this position: 4.49
Demonstrated knowledge of industry: 4.37
Demonstrated knowledge of company: 4.27
Career focus: 4.41
Persuasion and presence: 4.38
General level of preparation: 4.58

The following are representative recruiter comments about the Class of 2005 demonstrating a few of the above criteria:
Problem solving:
* didn't clearly communicate his/her contributions to solving problems
* average to below; for being a stock broker, had a tough time discussing stock situation
* excellent; tough assignments that required getting up to speed quickly and delivering results
